Shellenberger reveals a connection between USAID-funded research and a CIA whistleblower that ignited the impeachment process. The House of Representatives, on December 18, 2019, based the impeachment on a whistleblower’s claim that President Trump abused his presidential powers.

The whistleblower, Eric Ciaramella, a CIA analyst appointed during the Obama administration, alleged that President Trump pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate Joe Biden and his son Hunter by withholding military aid. Notably, Ciaramella was not present during Trump’s July 25 phone call with Zelensky; his complaint was based on information from others, primarily Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman.
