Over the weekend, Democrats made a head-scratching decision by appointing gun control activist David Hogg as vice chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC). This move has raised eyebrows across the political spectrum, not just among Republicans but also within their own party.
Hogg, best known for his activism following the 2018 Parkland school shooting, has made a name for himself as an outspoken advocate for gun control and progressive policies. However, his appointment to a leadership role in the DNC is puzzling for multiple reasons. He has no experience in electoral strategy, no track record of getting candidates elected, and no clear political victories to justify his elevation to such a high-profile position.

Even more concerning for Democrats is the fact that Hogg represents the extreme progressive wing of the party at a time when voters have been pushing back against “woke” politics. Given that, elevating an activist who thrives on controversy and ideological battles may not be the smartest political move.
