On Friday, Trump fired David Sundberg, the head of the FBI’s Washington Field Office—an official deeply involved in both the January 6 investigation and the controversial DNC pipe bomber case.
Sundberg’s termination marks the highest-ranking FBI official to be ousted so far in Trump’s renewed efforts to clean house. This follows the firing of former FBI Director James Comey during Trump’s first term, signaling that the former president is once again taking on the entrenched bureaucracy within the intelligence community.

But Sundberg wasn’t the only one removed. Reports emerged that at least 88 FBI officials were escorted out of their offices Friday evening.
