Bill Maher Exposes SNL Cover-Up!

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

“How about, why didn’t they make fun of Kamala’s husband when he got ‘me-too’d’?” Maher asked. “It is amazing the way this country is so partisan, including in the media and the entertainment parts of it, that when something happens for your team that’s bad, it’s like, you know, the angel of death just flying over the house on Passover. Like, ‘we don’t see a thing here.’”

Maher’s remarks stemmed from reports that Emhoff was accused of slapping his ex-girlfriend in public and engaging in an extramarital affair with a nanny while married to his first wife.

Dana Carvey and David Spade Echo the Sentiment

Maher wasn’t the only one raising concerns about the state of SNL. Dana Carvey and David Spade, both former SNL cast members, shared their own observations about the show’s reluctance to mock certain figures. Spade, who reprised his role last year as Hunter Biden opposite Carvey’s Church Lady character, questioned why the show had avoided lampooning the President’s son for so long.

“[I] was always curious as to why they never had anyone play Hunter Biden,” Spade said. “It was just sort of ripe for the pickings. I thought of maybe a hot-tub talk show with guests and girls.”

This reluctance to address Democratic scandals underscores a broader trend in media and entertainment, where satire is weaponized against one side while shielding the other.

SNL’s Portrayal of Emhoff

While serious accusations against Emhoff were making the rounds, SNL opted to portray him as a lovable, goofy dad. Andy Samberg’s depiction of Emhoff as “funny, kind of dorky Doug” drew criticism from Maher, who argued that the allegations against him were as “credible as many other accusations I’ve heard.”

“Doug Emhoff was credibly accused of things that other people have been accused of,” Maher pointed out. “But somehow it was just Andy Samberg [playing him] as funny, kind of dorky Doug.”

This sanitized portrayal stands in stark contrast to how SNL relentlessly skewered Republican figures over the years.

Media Protects Kamala Harris and Her Inner Circle

During the presidential campaign, mainstream media outlets painted Emhoff as the epitome of a supportive spouse. Meanwhile, any unsavory allegations were swept under the rug. Maher’s comments highlight a troubling double standard, where scandals tied to Democrats often escape the relentless scrutiny their Republican counterparts face.

Shifting Rules and Convenient Timing

Carvey, who portrayed Biden on SNL, admitted that he was prepared for backlash when he poked fun at the President’s age and perceived senility. However, he noted that the show’s rules became much looser after Biden won the election.

“I had a comeback just in case, but they went for it, I guess because he wasn’t running anymore,” Carvey explained. “But the rules all changed after Biden was no longer the nominee. They became a lot looser with it.”

Maher wasn’t impressed with the current SNL cast’s ability to satirize Biden, stating, “Nobody else really got how to make him funny… So they had to go to the bullpen. They had to go to the old school.”

SNL: A Shadow of Its Former Self

Maher’s critique sheds light on how SNL has drifted away from being an equal-opportunity mocker of political figures. Instead, it has aligned itself with the Democrat Party, providing cover for figures like Doug Emhoff while sparing them the comedic scrutiny once applied to both sides of the aisle. The shift has left audiences craving the biting, balanced humor that defined the show’s golden years.
