Google’s Christmas Ad Triggers Major Backlash!

It seems Google’s marketing executives might have benefitted from a quick search on “Bud Light controversy” before rolling out their latest Christmas ad campaign. Yet, in a move that echoes the much-maligned beer brand’s catastrophic marketing decisions, the tech giant has sparked a firestorm of backlash over its holiday advertisement featuring nonbinary TikTok star Cyrus Veyssi.

Veyssi, who identifies as nonbinary, appears in the ad promoting Google Shopping’s Nearby filter while dressed in women’s clothing and wearing full makeup. The ad features Veyssi lamenting winter’s impact on his skin.

“This winter dryness is not it. Especially when I have so many holiday looks to pull off,” Veyssi says. He then reveals Google Shopping as the solution, stating, “Thankfully, I know just the thing. Hydrated skin is a gift to everyone. No wrapping needed. Happy holidays to me.”
