In her latest move sure to ignite debate, conservative commentator Candace Owens has taken on a deeply contentious issue: the 1967 USS Liberty attack. During her long-form interview, Owens sat down with Phil Tourney, a survivor of the incident, who alleges a cover-up involving both the U.S. and Israeli governments.
The USS Liberty, a U.S. Naval intelligence vessel, was patrolling the Mediterranean Sea during the Six-Day War when it was attacked on June 8, 1967, by Israeli fighter jets and torpedo boats. The assault left 34 crew members dead and another 171 wounded. The official explanation claims the attack was a tragic case of mistaken identity, but Tourney and other survivors assert it was a deliberate act orchestrated as a false flag operation.

Tourney’s interview with Owens provided a detailed and chilling recount of the attack. According to him, the assault was anything but accidental. He described how Israeli reconnaissance planes circled the ship throughout the day, an observation supported by reports from The Liberty Veterans Association, a group dedicated to seeking justice for the incident. The association’s war crimes report, filed with the Department of Defense, alleges that Israeli aircraft conducted no fewer than eight surveillance flights over the Liberty before the attack.
