While Rivera stopped short of confirming any plans to reconcile, he jokingly suggested a recurring segment to track his decision. “You could have, like, a question and answer every Friday: has Geraldo congratulated Donald Trump yet? Has he gone to kiss the ring yet like Mika and Joe?” Rivera quipped.
A significant sticking point for Rivera is Trump’s proposed immigration policies. Rivera, a longtime advocate for amnesty, expressed vehement opposition to what he described as “mass deportations.” Speaking to Melber, Rivera said, “This is really going to, I think, tarnish the reputation of the nation and it should affect the conscience of every American who sees it.”
Rivera went further, claiming that Trump’s policies aimed to make conditions in detention centers so dire that asylum seekers would abandon their cases and self-deport. “They will make the vast holding areas so unpleasant that people will be dying to get out to go home,” he alleged, adding that this strategy was “an obscenity.”
In an especially controversial comparison, Rivera likened the potential detention centers to Japanese internment camps from World War II. “Can you imagine, just think of the Japanese internment in World War II, this is going to be that at a much vaster scale,” he said.
Rivera’s public statements reveal an internal conflict. On the one hand, he has sharply criticized Trump’s policies and post-election behavior. On the other, he recognizes Trump’s position as a leader with influence over millions of Americans. Whether Rivera would seek to use a potential reconciliation as an opportunity to sway Trump’s stance on immigration remains unclear.
What are the best concealed carry holsters for ultimate security?
For now, Rivera remains on the sidelines, reflecting on the complexities of his relationship with Trump and the political landscape at large. While he hasn’t ruled out a meeting, Rivera’s reservations underscore the challenges of bridging divides in today’s polarized climate.
As Rivera himself admitted, “I don’t know whether I will.” For now, the possibility of reconciliation with Trump hangs in the balance, leaving observers to wonder if Rivera will indeed make the unthinkable move of mending fences with his former friend.

What makes Geraldo think Trump wants him as a friend? Rivera proves himself an idiot and a backstabber with nonsense statements. He hasn’t a clue what will happen re illegals. It would behoove them to choose to self deport now, as only chance to ever be allowed to apply for legal citizenship. Deportation knocks that option out. By saying nasty, dishonest, ill informed/ makes it up as he goes along things, Geraldo increases threats to Trump’s nominees, including Homan. Death threats. But he’ll do or day anything for moments of attention or getting paid to. As long as I’ve known about Geraldo, he is a disgrace looking for attention by promoting himself in the midst of his lies. Even Al Capone’s ghost is probably sneering at him.
