In the wake of President Donald Trump’s commanding re-election victory, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is sounding off against the Democratic Party, accusing its leaders of failing the American people. The Vermont senator, known for his progressive stance and two presidential campaigns, hinted at a seismic shift in his political approach—possibly endorsing independent candidates or even forming a new political party.
In a fiery email to supporters, Sanders did not hold back. “The American people understand that our economic and political systems are rigged,” he wrote. “They know that the very rich get much richer while almost everyone else becomes poorer. They know that we are moving rapidly into an oligarchic form of society.” These remarks reveal Sanders’ growing frustration with what he sees as the Democratic Party’s inability to address the deep economic disparities facing the nation.

Sanders’ criticism of the Democratic Party isn’t new, but his recent remarks go further than ever before. Drawing from his experience during the 2016 primaries, Sanders referenced allegations that the Democratic National Committee unfairly tilted the scales in favor of Hillary Clinton. Former DNC Chair Donna Brazile herself admitted to the primary process being “rigged.”
