This time, Vanity Fair published a controversial report Thursday evening, citing a “transition source,” that leveled sexual misconduct allegations against Pete Hegseth, President Trump’s pick for Secretary of Defense.
The outlet claims Susie Wiles, Trump’s newly appointed Chief of Staff, was briefed about the allegations, which date back to 2017. According to the report, the alleged misconduct occurred in Monterey, California, and was brought to Wiles’ attention on Wednesday night. The next day, Trump’s legal team and Wiles reportedly confronted Hegseth regarding the claims.

According to Vanity Fair, a meeting took place Thursday where the accusations were discussed. A “transition source” reportedly described the allegations as “serious enough” for immediate attention. Hegseth allegedly characterized the incident as a consensual encounter, disputing the allegations as a “he-said, she-said” scenario.
