In a recent interview, Senator JD Vance (R-OH) didn’t shy away from challenging the narrative surrounding Donald Trump’s remarks about the “enemy from within.” During his appearance on NBC, host Kristen Welker tried to push Vance on Trump’s controversial comments, but the Ohio Senator remained steadfast, directing attention to the failed leadership of prominent Democrats like Nancy Pelosi.
Trump had made headlines after an interview with Joe Rogan where he stated that America faces a greater internal threat than it does from external adversaries such as North Korea. Trump said, “We had no problem with [Kim Jong Un],” before adding, “I say it to people, we have a bigger problem, in my opinion, with the enemy from within.”

When Welker brought up concerns about foreign threats, specifically from China and Russia, Vance was quick to dismantle the “enemy from within” hoax by pointing to Pelosi and other left-leaning Democrats as key contributors to America’s current problems. Instead of backing down, he firmly reinforced Trump’s point, arguing that the most significant issues America faces come from its own leadership failures.
