In a surprising twist, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, once closely aligned with progressive politics, is now reportedly working to reshape his public image by embracing Libertarian ideals. According to a report from The New York Times, Zuckerberg has hired Republican strategist Brian Baker to help guide his new political direction and repair his relationship with conservative circles. This move follows widespread criticism of Facebook’s censorship activities, particularly around the 2020 election.
Zuckerberg’s attempt to distance himself from left-wing politics comes after years of scrutiny over Facebook’s involvement in the suppression of certain news stories. That story, which detailed business dealings with foreign entities, was effectively scrubbed from the internet at a critical time. The FBI reportedly played a significant role in urging tech companies to remove the story, a decision that critics say may have influenced the election’s outcome.
