In the midst of typical election predictions like polls and expert forecasts, one Pennsylvania bakery is using a sweet and unconventional approach to gauge the mood of voters. Lochel’s Bakery, located in Hatboro, Pennsylvania, has been conducting a “cookie tally” since 2012, where customers can buy cookies representing either political candidate. This year, it’s red-sprinkled cookies for former President Donald Trump versus blue-sprinkled cookies for Vice President Kamala Harris.

The latest tally, reported by WTXF-TV, shows Trump far ahead of Harris. In fact, the numbers are staggering: “Trump 2024” cookies had sold a total of 2,673, while “Harris 2024” cookies lagged significantly behind with just 291 sales. The tally was taken a week before the most recent GOP debate, leaving room for potential shifts. But at that point, the cookie sales were clear: Trump’s base is fired up.
