Since her appointment in February 2024, Nair has been an active advocate for what she describes as “queering nuclear weapons” and the eradication of “white supremacy” within the nuclear sector. Her ideas, which have sparked intense debate, are part of a broader push for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the nation’s nuclear security framework.
Nair, a former employee of the Stimson Institute, a think tank with financial ties to left-leaning entities such as George Soros’ Open Society Foundations and the Qatari government, has brought her radical perspective into a field that has traditionally focused on national defense. In her work, Nair has argued that integrating DEI principles into nuclear security is essential for the safety and stability of the U.S. nuclear infrastructure.
