Outside the Carriage Hotel in Calgary, where the incident occurred, Ezra Levant, the founder of Rebel News, immediately addressed the gathering crowd. He detailed the unsettling circumstances of the arrest. “I’m standing outside the Carriage Inn Hotel in Calgary, where Tommy Robinson just finished giving a major speech to 150 Calgarians about freedom of speech and his battles in the UK. No sooner did he finish that speech and walk outside than he was swarmed by ten police officers who put him in the back of an SUV,” Levant reported.

Levant expressed his perplexity and deep concern over the abrupt arrest. Despite inquiries, the police did not provide any information regarding the charges or Robinson’s destination. Levant speculated that the arrest could be connected to an immigration issue and disclosed that he had reached out to a prominent criminal lawyer in Calgary to ascertain Robinson’s location and assist further.

Amidst growing uncertainty and outrage from supporters, Levant didn’t mince words about his suspicions regarding governmental motives. “I am not surprised that the Canadian government, which takes orders from Justin Trudeau, would engage in censorship of a free speech activist like Tommy Robinson,” he commented, hinting at political interference.

In a recent update that provided some relief to his followers, Levant announced that Robinson had been released. However, the conditions of his release were stringent: “TOMMY ROBINSON HAS BEEN RELEASED! But he must turn in his passport, remain in southern Alberta, and he cannot leave Canada! Tomorrow we work on fixing that,” Levant updated on X.
