Under the terms of the program, undocumented immigrants must have resided in the U.S. for at least a decade as spouses, and the stepchildren eligible for the program should be under 21 years of age. The majority of beneficiaries are expected to be from Mexico, with the program allowing a three-year window to apply for residency. Post residency, these individuals can then pursue citizenship in just three years—a reduction from the typical five-year waiting period.
