Air Canada officials quickly addressed the situation, attributing the fiery ordeal to an “engine issue” that emerged during the critical phase of takeoff. The Boeing 777, carrying 389 passengers, was immediately rerouted back to the airport. “After the aircraft landed, it was inspected by airport response vehicles as per normal operating processes, and it taxied to the gate on its own,” a representative from Air Canada stated. The airline assured that the jet would be withdrawn from service to undergo a thorough examination by their maintenance and engineering team.
