In a recent event that has sparked controversy, a professor from the University of California, Irvine, was arrested during a protest on campus. The incident occurred last Wednesday and involved a pro-Palestinian demonstration. The professor, who has been identified as Tiffany Willoughby-Herard, was reportedly engaged in a vociferous protest against the university’s administration, particularly targeting UC Irvine Chancellor Howard Gillman.
During the protest, Willoughby-Herard, a Professor of Global Studies, was noted for her impassioned outcry against what she perceives as misallocated university resources. According to her, the funds used for the heavy police presence at the protest could have been better spent on student scholarships and resources. “These young people are going to be the ones that have to pay the price for these horrible decisions,” she exclaimed during the demonstration.

In a dramatic confrontation, Willoughby-Herard didn’t hold back her disappointment with the Chancellor, calling him a “very cruel man” for his decision to spend taxpayer money in ways she found wasteful. This expenditure, she argued, directly impacts the future of the students. “What job do I have if the students don’t have a future?” she questioned, highlighting her deep concerns over the educational and fiscal priorities of the university.
