Daily updates are provided by New York Attorney General Letitia James (D), who claims that property value inflation is the reason behind Judge Engoron’s punishment in the civil lawsuit against President Trump. Trump disputes the charges, and his lenders—who have not claimed any fraud—state that they were paid in full and remain open to working with him in the future.
On February 16, Judge Engoron handed down a $355 million fine in the nonjury trial, in addition to a three-year ban on Trump’s commercial dealings in New York. But as interest has accumulated, the amount has increased to more over $454 million, according to a Friday court clerk report (quote from ABC News).

On Friday, the Supreme Court clerk for New York County completed the judgment order in the civil fraud case of the former president, Donald Trump. In addition to almost $100 million in interest, Trump is subject to $355 million in penalty.
Trump’s financial penalties began shortly after New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a notice of entry in the case. This comes to $454,156,783, which includes pre-judgment interest and disgorgement.
Trump has thirty days to file an appeal with the First Department of the Appellate Division of New York. According to James, in order to stop the fine from being enforced, he needs to either post a bail or put money into an escrow account that will pay the penalty and interest.
Trump will accrue interest on the judgment of nine percent, or more than $3 million every month, until the whole fine is deposited into an escrow account.
