Representative Anna Paulina Luna, a former U.S. airfield management specialist, made what can only be called an astounding move. From 2009 to 2014, the Air Force drafted laws that have the potential to drastically alter the political landscape of accountability.
The Daily Mail received a leak of the bill, which was not intended to be made public just yet.

The proposed legislation, known as the SCHUMER Act—an acronym for Senators Can Help Underpin Military Engagement and Readiness—aims to require Congressmen who support military assistance to Ukraine to serve as active participants in the conflict.
This project directly challenges support for a proposal backed by Senator Chuck Schumer that calls for an additional $60 billion in aid for Ukraine.

Rep. Luna responded to the leak with a daring social media post that read, “To whoever leaked my bill: Congratulations, you played yourself.” I apologize not at all. Congressmen who support Schumer’s calls for American sons and daughters to fight would have to fight on the front lines in Ukraine under my bill, the SCHUMER Act.
The legislation would “make Members of Congress who support providing military support for Ukraine enlist in the armed forces and serve on active duty in support of a contingency operation,” according to the Daily Mail.
According to the bill, “If a member of Congress supports giving Ukraine military support, the member—
- shall enlist in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Space Force, or Coast Guard; and
- shall be assigned for not fewer than 6 months to active duty in support of a contingency operation.”
The United States of America has provided over $75 billion in aid, including $46.3 billion in security assistance to Ukraine, since Russia’s invasion in February 2022.

The Florida Republican’s bill is a response to an MSNBC interview where Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer threatened to involve the United States in the war if the bill was not passed. This ultimatum has drawn criticism, particularly considering that Ukraine is not a member of NATO and is not, therefore, protected by the United States.
“If we don’t aid Ukraine, Putin will be walk all over Ukraine, we will lose the war and we could be fighting in eastern Europe and a NATO ally in a few years. Americans won’t like that,” Schumer said.

A compromise “border security bill” that would have given more funding to foreign nations while largely ignoring the US border was rejected by GOP senators on Wednesday.
A contentious debate is currently raging in Congress over whether or not to provide funding for foreign aid without including provisions for border security.
The Democratic-led Senate advanced a streamlined bill on Thursday, keeping to Schumer’s promise to help Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan—but not the southern border, which is currently being invaded by illegal immigrants.
Several Republican senators joined Democrats in favor of the foreign aid bill, and the Senate overcame party lines to pass the bill by a vote of 67–32 on cloture.
Republicans who voted in agreement with Democrats include:
- Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)
- Mitch McConnell (R-KY)
- Bill Cassidy (R-LA)
- Roger Wicker (R-MS)
- Todd Young (R-IN)
- Susan Collins (R-ME)
- Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV)
- John Kennedy (R-LA)
- John Thune (R-SD)
- Dan Sullivan (R-AK)
- Mitt Romney (R-UT)
- Joni Ernst (R-IA)
- Mike Rounds (R-SD)
- Thom Tillis (R-NC)
- John Cornyn (R-TX)
- Chuck Grassley (R-IA)
- Jerry Moran (R-KS)
Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) is unsure, but Senator Mike Rounds (R-SD) has made it clear that he supports the bill’s ultimate passage, according to CNN’s Manu Raju.
