Update: Killer Mike was likely released tonight after being detained for a misdemeanor.
After winning three Grammys at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, activist and rapper Michael Render, often known as “Killer Mike,” was taken into custody.

Before being led away in handcuffs, Killer Mike won Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance for “Scientists & Engineers,” and Best Rap Album for “Michael”.

Updated through Chris Gardner of The Hollywood Reporter: I just spoke with an official, and they informed me that it is a misdemeanor and unrelated to anything that occurred inside the arena today. He’ll probably be freed when everything is resolved. “It’s a big nothing,” the insider claims.
Just two days after Killer Mike declined to support Joe Biden on Bill Maher’s “Real Time with Bill Maher,” he was taken into custody.
Maher questioned Killer Mike on the election during their talk.
Killer Mike deftly sidestepped a straightforward support of Biden or Trump when Maher forced him to pick one. Rather, he stayed impartial and imparted his grandfather’s advice to stay out of “white folks’ business,” all the while voicing his affinity for Bernie Sanders’s views, which he had previously backed.
“This time, I’m going to keep my mouth closed. I still like the policy that the old man [Bernie] had that I was supporting. I would encourage people to find who’s supporting that policy and see what.”
“But you can’t get yourself to say ‘vote for Biden over Trump?’” Maher asked.
“You want me to list it now? Can he get himself to apologize for the [1994] crime bill? Can he get himself to get his head out of his ass and say ‘black people, you are black regardless? I need you to tell me what I need to do.’ Can he pick a coalition of former people who were affected by drug law, street gangs, recidivism and crime and say ‘I need you as a board to advise me how to fix federal prisons’? If he can do that, absolutely I can. So my challenge is out,” The rapper, 48, stated.
