Rock icon Ted Nugent, who is well-known for his controversial political opinions, recently gave a vehement speech at a trucker convoy in support of Texas’s immigration campaign, lashing out at President Joe Biden and the Democratic party.

“My heart is broke right now,” Nugent started, “and I’d like to start by speaking to all the veterans out there, all the law enforcement officers, and the citizens who took an oath to the sacred Constitution… I’d like to apologize to ‘We the People’ for allowing this piece of s*** to get into the White House.”
Unsurprisingly, given the number of people who joined the “Take Our Border Back” convoy in support of Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s proposal to install razor wire in high-traffic areas, the crowd cheered. But when the wires were taken down by federal officials, their excitement was short-lived.

“This devil snake scum thinks he’s the Commander in Chief of the United States of America? We apologize for being so stupid and for bending over and allowing this to happen,” he added.
“I have an instinctual right to speak my mind… I can protest on January 6th without the FBI causing all that violence,” he continued, drawing more applause from onlookers. “I don’t need a permit or a license for my First Amendment.”
Sarah Palin, the Republican nominee for vice president and former governor of Alaska, was seen backstage as Nugent sang the National Anthem. Wearing a chic tan leather jacket and shades, she radiated cool.

Thousands of people started setting up at three locations near the border between the United States and Mexico on Friday. According to the organizers, the events will primarily center around prayer and nonviolent protests. This week, the convoy left Virginia and arrived at Eagle Pass, the scene of a heated territorial dispute between federal and state officials. The convoy is expected to arrive in Yuma, Arizona, and San Ysidro, California, among other places.
Opponents have argued that at a time when Americans are becoming more and more concerned about illegal immigration, the protests and the actions of the Texas government will strengthen anti-immigrant sentiment.

“Greg Abbott has continued to use political stunts and inflammatory language to advance his own agenda, violating the Constitution and endangering both U.S. citizens and asylum seekers,” Rep. Greg Casar (D-TX) posted on X. “Abbott is following the Donald Trump playbook: making immigration harder and more dangerous, so asylum seekers are pushed into the hands of cartels and the system remains broken.”
Beto O’Rourke charges Abbott of violating the Supreme Court’s ruling on border security.
“When Gov. Orval Eugene Faubus did this in 1957, [President] Eisenhower federalized the Arkansas Guard to ensure compliance with the law,” O’Rourke tweeted. “Biden must follow this example of bold, decisive leadership to end this crisis before it gets worse.”
Governor Abbott questions federal power and calls for a “invasion” of historically large illegal crossings. Razor wire has been erected and removed as a result of a standoff between Texas and the Department of Homeland Security. Next week, Governor Abbott will travel to the border with 14 other Republican governors to raise awareness of the situation.
With allegations that Secretary Mayorkas has disregarded his constitutional obligations, House Republicans plan to impeach him.
