Breaking: Abbott’s Defiance Sets New Border Precedent!

Notwithstanding a cease-and-desist order from President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security, which has been used by migrants to enter the country illegally, Governor Greg Abbott of Texas is maintaining the security of his state’s border with Mexico.

The Texas National Guard and state law enforcement were ordered by Republican governor Greg Abbott to guard a park close to Eagle Pass and erect razor-wire barriers to prevent unauthorized access. Abbott firmly refuses, even though DHS is pleading for access so Border Patrol officers may remove the barricades.

At this time, governors from all throughout the country are uniting in support of Abbott, offering both material assistance and words of encouragement. As part of this support, law enforcement officers and Guard troops are dispatched, along with supplies needed to defend and preserve the state.

A number of Congressmen are supporting Governor Abbott’s position.

“We need to let Governor Abbott do his job, which is to put up the razor wire – I stand with Texas. We’ve got to secure this border,” remarked Representative Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.).

“Joe Biden and the Democrats in Congress, they are standing with the Mexican drug cartels,” This was said last week by Texas senator Ted Cruz. “They are standing with the invasion that is targeting our state. We have seen 9.6 million illegal immigrants enter this country since Joe Biden became president…and this is deliberate.”

“This is an invasion by people. We don’t know who they are or the dangers they may pose,” Abbott has said.

Abbott made a strong statement on Wednesday afternoon, defying the Biden administration’s orders to cease operations in the two-week-long dispute between state and federal officials over a 2.5-mile stretch of Texas territory.

In a widely read letter, Abbott stated that Texas had a “constitutional right to self-defense,” highlighting the White House’s disobedience to its constitutional obligations. According to the Washington Examiner, he contended that the federal government had not done enough in the last three years to stem the flow of undocumented immigrants, which was necessary to safeguard all 50 states and territories.

“The Executive Branch of the United States has a constitutional duty to enforce federal laws protecting states, including immigration laws on the books right now. President Biden has refused to enforce those laws and has even violated them,” Abbott wrote.

Following President Biden’s disregard for his earlier requests to strengthen border security, Abbott claimed grounds for a November 2022 “invasion” declaration.

“The failure of the Biden Administration to fulfill the duties imposed by Article IV, § 4 has triggered Article I,§ 10, Clause 3, which reserves to this State the right of self-defense,” Abbott continued. “For these reasons, I have already declared an invasion under Article I, § 10, Clause 3 to invoke Texas’s constitutional authority to defend and protect itself.”

The governor, who is in his third term, claimed that Texas had legal grounds to ignore laws that would otherwise bind the state to federal policies because he believes the federal government failed in its duty to protect the state at the international border and because the state chose to act independently.

“That authority is the supreme law of the land and supersedes any federal statutes to the contrary,” Abbott said. “The Texas National Guard, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and other Texas personnel are acting on that authority, as well as state law, to secure the Texas border.”

Attorney General Ken Paxton received a letter from the Department of Homeland Security on Tuesday, in which DHS General Counsel Jonathan Meyer chastised the state for its lack of response after the U.S. Supreme Court revoked an order from an appeals court. This pullout made it possible for federal officials to take down the razor wire barriers at Eagle Pass, making it easier to find and apprehend illegal immigrants who were trying to cross the Rio Grande.

“The state has alleged that Shelby Park is open to the public, but we do not believe this statement is
accurate,” Meyer said.
