The main organization that represents Border Patrol and Customs officers made a daring decision by openly endorsing Governor Greg Abbott and his initiatives to fortify the southern border. The union expressed their strong disapproval of the Biden Administration’s directives to detain Texas law enforcement and National Guard soldiers in a heartfelt message. The courageous men and women on the front lines are expressing their defiance with this message.
“Rank-and file BP agents are not going to start arresting TX NG members for following their LAWFUL orders. That’s fake news,” In an X post, the Border Patrol Union wrote.

“TX NG and rank-and-file BP agents work together and respect each other’s jobs. Period. If TX NG members have LAWFUL orders, then they have to carry out those orders,” the statement continued.
The union continued by emphasizing that rank-and-file agents are aware of the Texas National Guard’s dedication to border security and have longstanding ties with them. “Rank-and-file BP agents appreciate and respect what TX has been doing to defend their state in the midst of this catastrophe that the Biden Admin has unleashed on America,” the statement reads.
By directing Texas to leave the Shelby Park region of Eagle Pass, the Biden Administration has taken a firm stand against illegal immigration. This well-liked staging area has raised concerns since it has been used by large numbers of illegal aliens trying to enter the United States. Federal agents will now have access to the park, which was being occupied by Texas officials. Governor Abbott is justifying the action by citing Article IV, Section IV of the US Constitution, which requires the federal government to defend the states from invasion.
Texas points to the extraordinary number of interactions in 2022 and 2023 to argue that the Biden Administration is not doing enough to handle the flood of undocumented immigrants. Texas has responded by erecting obstacles both on land and in the sea and deploying the Texas National Guard to apprehend undocumented immigrants.
Texas opposes the deadline set by the Biden administration for leaving Shelby Park Area. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton promises to uphold border security measures, even in light of a recent Supreme Court ruling allowing Border Patrol officers the power to breach fence at strategic entrance locations.

It is unclear what action the Biden Administration will take once the 24-hour deadline has passed. Several elected Democrats have urged the president to federalize the Texas National Guard, among them is U.S. Representative Joaquin Castro (D-TX). ““If Abbott is defying yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling … [Biden] needs to establish sole federal control of the Texas National Guard now,” Castro posted anything on X.
More than twenty red state governors are supporting Texas by pledging their own national guard members to help with the situation.
