The former First Lady Melania Trump want to thank everyone who sent her good wishes and sorrow. Just over a week had elapsed since the tragic death of her mother, Amalija Knavs, at the age of 78, when she made this heartfelt remark.

“On behalf of my family, I would like to extend our deepest gratitude for the love and support that you have showered upon us throughout this journey of loss and grief,” In an X post, the former First Lady wrote. “We will cherish the beautiful memories of my beloved mother, and forever keep her light in our hearts.”

78-year-old Amalija Knavs has been living in Mar-a-Lago with her father, Viktor Knavs, 79. Together with Barron Trump, Amalija’s grandson, and former first lady Melania Trump, they reside in this same house. Melania has been missing from a few recent occasions because she has been taking care of her ailing mother.

This week, Melania brought attention to her mother’s passing when giving her eulogy “unwavering dedication and hard work that truly made her exceptional.” She also provided information on her mother’s tenacity, “Like a string that holds everything together, she balanced the demands of motherhood with grace and poise.”

Even while funeral plans were being finalized, former President Trump’s attendance was expected at the defamation trial stemming from charges made by novelist E Jean Carroll. In order for Trump to attend the funeral, his legal team asked for a one-day postponement of the trial; however, their request was denied. In the end, Trump decided not to attend the burial and to skip Thursday’s court appearance.
