Moreover, the Coventry Board had to “invalidate an unusually high number of signatures” provided on the Ramaswamy campaign’s behalf.

Speaking on behalf of the Rhode Island Board of Elections, Ben Smith said “The Board of Elections asked for local boards of canvassers to be extra vigilant and to notify them if they see patterns of fraudulent signatures,”

A presidential contender is at the center of what may be Rhode Island’s second signature controversy in less than a year.

Local canvassers are reporting a rise in invalid signatures on Vivek Ramaswamy and No Labels Party nomination papers from Providence to Hopkinton.

Canvassers in Warwick claim deceased voters were included in the signatures that Ramaswamy’s team submitted.

“Any violation of this process could be a felony,” Gregg Amore, the secretary of state, told Target 12.

In around six municipalities, the Board of Elections announced on Thursday that there were a “unusually high” number of incorrect signatures on nomination papers.

A representative for the Ramaswamy campaign said that Ground Game LLC, the vendor handling the signature gathering, was to blame for the names of deceased voters appearing on Vivek’s nomination documents.
