Millions of dollars’ worth of food waste is a problem in New York, even as taxpayers spend billions of dollars providing free services to illegal border crossers.
Tens of thousands of tax dollars are spent monthly by the Big Apple to provide free meals to the influx of illegal immigrants into the Empire State. However, a lot of those meals are going to waste since they are not being consumed, according to the New York Times.

Another example of government waste: DocGo, a medical services provider, won a $432 million no-bid contract from the city to provide meals that are eventually thrown away. Disappointingly, but predictably, DocGo has no prior experience preparing or distributing meals.
Every meal that DocGo gives to migrants brings in $33, according to the Times. At the moment, they provide services to about 4,000 people without documentation.
A startling 70,000 meals have been thrown out by DocGo in just 20 days as opposed to being distributed to people in need.
Over that time, the corporation has wasted an incredible $776,000 on meals.
Even if DocGo and New York City waste a lot of food, the federal Department of Agriculture’s Household Food Insecurity Report shows that one in seven Americans are experiencing food insecurity under Joe Biden’s administration, which is concerning.
The percentage of Americans experiencing food insecurity increased from 10.2% to 12.8% in 2022, marking a notable increase. This corresponds to an astounding 3.5 million additional homes that are battling to feed their families.

Under Biden’s direction, food insecurity and homelessness are becoming more and more of a concern in America. A startling 12% rise in homelessness has been reported in recent surveys, impacting 653,000 Americans who do not have a place to live.
New Yorkers, take note: Mayor Eric Adams is redistributing resources in the face of budget constraints, all the while rubbish heaps keep growing.
Gale Brewer, a city councilwoman, was horrified to witness the food waste, particularly in light of the fact that New Yorkers are losing access to their libraries, police force, and other public services.
“It’s very expensive for the taxpayer,” Brewer stated as reported by the Times. We’re asking for cuts while we are wasting food.”
Councilwoman Julie Won criticizes the Adams administration over the contentious report.
“DocGo’s food waste is symptomatic of a larger systemic failure on the part of Mayoral Admin. The complete absence of oversight, accountability, quality assurance, and transparency in administering these food contracts is shocking and must be addressed immediately,” Won said.
Once more, the Times noted that DocGo was already being accused of mistreating the migrants under its care and is currently the subject of an inquiry by the state attorney general, even if this is all news that is hardly remarkable given how incompetent and ineffective government is. Recall that the Adams administration awarded DocGo a no-bid contract that was given to him on a silver platter.
The business claims that the media’s reporting is “not accurate.”
“DocGo has continued to deliver on its contractual obligations and has ordered no more than 3 meals daily for each asylum seeker,” A spokesperson informed the Post.
“DocGo continually monitors food consumption and works to proactively identify opportunities for savings on behalf of NYC. Meal consumption currently sits at 93 percent,” The business told The Times.
Notwithstanding the promise, several media sources claimed that the illegal immigrants are turning down the meals because they find the food to be cold and, in certain circumstances, even to have mold growing on it. Some claim that the cuisine is “not healthy.”
Anyone who has ever looked at government waste won’t be too surprised by any of this. The only thing the government does well is waste money. The distinction is that, in this case, it only contributes to the billions of dollars that are being squandered on handouts to individuals who have broken the law in order to enter the country in the first place and are now living it up on public money.
Wasting tax cash on Americans is a serious enough problem. However, it is considerably worse when tax money is spent on illegals.
