Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has announced his departure from the legislature.

In a powerful opinion piece for The Wall Street Journal, McCarthy declares his resignation from public office before to the conclusion of his tenure.

“No matter the odds, or personal cost, we did the right thing,” Speaking about his 17 years in Congress, McCarthy stated. “That may seem out of fashion in Washington these days, but delivering results for the American people is still celebrated across the country.”

He announced his desire to resign from his government post with resolute commitment. He swore that he would follow a different route without looking back.

“I never could have imagined the journey when I first threw my hat into the ring,” McCarthy wrote. “ I go knowing I left it all on the field — as always, with a smile on my face. And looking back, I wouldn’t have had it any other way.”

“I know my work is only getting started,” Adding, he said he would “serve America in new ways.”

For his next ventures, McCarthy intends to remain active in Republican Party politics.

“I will continue to recruit our country’s best and brightest to run for elected office,” he stated. “The Republican Party is expanding every day, and I am committed to lending my experience to support the next generation of leaders.”

Additionally, McCarthy posted a video on social media that detailed his escape from “the son of a firefighter from Bakersfield” to assuming the role as the 55th Speaker of the House, his “greatest honor.”
