Schiff Scandal Escalates: Accusations Cloud Senate Run!

Rep. Adam Schiff, a well-known Democrat and prospective senator from California, is under investigation for allegedly taking advantage of homeowner tax benefits by claiming two homes in Maryland and California for more than ten years.

The scandals surrounding Schiff’s home might jeopardize his candidacy for the US Senate in January 2023.

Schiff claims his principal house to be a considerably smaller condo, and he has been taking advantage of the homeowner’s tax exemption. He has a large property in Maryland, but he gives in to the charms of a little, 650-square-foot condo in Burbank, California.

By lowering his property taxes, Congressman Schiff was able to save $7,000 in total—roughly $70 annually. It’s interesting that he didn’t use the same tactic on his Maryland property.

Further controversy surrounds the matter as CNN reports that tax documents reveal Schiff paid property taxes in California with a personal check made out to his Maryland address.

The New York Post was informed by a source that Schiff is “rarely at his California apartment,” It is a simple one-bedroom apartment with one bathroom.

“The revelation comes as Schiff faces stiff competition in the California Senate primary against fellow Democratic Reps. Katie Porter and Barbara Lee. Deed records reveal that Schiff designated his Maryland property as his primary residence in 2003 when he purchased it for $870,000,” the New York Post stated.

“In 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012, Schiff refinanced his mortgage and consistently indicated the Maryland property as his primary residence. Los Angeles County deed records for Schiff’s Burbank condo, purchased in 2009 for $298,000, raise eyebrows as they were notarized in Maryland. The records feature alterations that replaced ‘California’ and ‘Los Angeles’ with ‘Maryland’ and ‘Montgomery County,’ listing Schiff’s Maryland address as the return address. This inconsistency further fuels doubts about his true primary residence,” the outlet added.

Marisol Samayoa, the campaign spokesperson for Schiff, recently asserted in a CNN interview that Schiff resides mostly in Burbank. Nevertheless, a number of pieces of evidence indicate differently, as Schiff resides in Maryland.

Samayoa emphasizes that in order to give their kids more time and attention while Schiff was serving in Congress, he and his spouse moved to Washington, DC. Numerous press citations and his published book attest to this.

Samayoa said that Schiff listed his locations in Maryland and California as year-round homes and, for financing purposes, identified them as principal residences to set them apart from vacation homes.

While acknowledging his Burbank family home, Schiff’s biography on the campaign website from 2010 to 2014 omits any reference of his residence in Maryland.

The New York Post also mentioned:

Despite identifying his Maryland house as his second home and refinancing it in 2020, new information points to the possibility that Schiff never left. School records from 2021 and a recent social media post appear to contradict his purported move.

Find proof that Schiff appears to be residing in Maryland at this time. His devotion to his Potomac house is evident from a plethora of social media posts and an unusual family portrait on his website.

On June 7, 2022, the day of the Democratic primary for the mayor of Los Angeles, Schiff shared a picture of himself wearing a “I Voted” sticker in front of his Maryland residence on Twitter. In spite of this, Schiff’s spokesman maintained that Schiff had voted by mail while in Washington, DC, for House votes.

In response to the claims, former governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee stated that Schiff could be “prosecuted on the federal level.”
