A recent poll indicates that President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign is facing more and more obstacles. The results show him falling short of the top three Republican candidates, introducing a surprising non-Trump candidate.
“A new Marquette Law School Poll national survey of registered voters finds President Joe Biden trailing against each of the top three potential Republican candidates, with former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley leading Biden 55% to 45% among registered voters,” the university announced the poll’s results in a press release on Thursday.
“Former President Trump leads Biden 52% to 48% in the same category, while Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis holds a 51% to 49% advantage,” in its press release, the university added the following:
Among likely voters, Haley’s lead grows to 12 points at 56-44. There is no change in the Biden-DeSantis scenario, but Trump’s support falls to 51% compared to Biden’s 49%.
The results that follow take into consideration voters who remained undecided but were then asked to choose a candidate.
With an astounding 54% of the vote among registered Republicans, Trump is still leading the field in the GOP primary. Since March, there has been a change, though, with Ron DeSantis’ support falling and Nikki Haley’s support rising, both at 12%. It’s important to note that the current poll has no other candidates scoring higher than 4%. Although Trump continues to have a sizable lead, some intriguing developments are beginning to emerge in the race.
During the most recent third 2024 Republican primary debate, Haley had a number of noteworthy moments.
After the debate, Haley talked about her performance and the status of the race in an interview with NBC News. She was very proud of her campaign’s ascent to the second rank in some GOP primary polls and declared her intention to continue running despite Trump’s sizable lead.
During the debate, Haley addressed Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy’s reference to her daughter.
“I have to start with the moment we saw with Vivek Ramaswamy. Can you take a minute to reflect on that moment and what was going through your head? Do you dislike him?” an NBC News reporter asked.
“Look, I’m a mom. The second you start saying something about my 25-year-old daughter, I will get my backup. It is not even about the personal part. There are serious differences I have with him. He does not think we have to help Israel; he sides with Putin, and he thinks that Ukraine doesn’t matter,” Haley began.
“He is okay with giving Taiwan to China. There are so many issues. He does not think America needs friends. I think he has a dangerous foreign policy that we can’t afford. I think he would make America less safe,” she added.
“I do not even give him the time of day. He is not worthy. He is not ready to be president; everybody knows that and sees that. So many things he said were uncalled for,” she concluded.
The debate got really heated when someone brought up the possibility of outlawing TikTok. Concerns have been expressed by the FBI and other national security agencies regarding the app’s possible disclosure of user data to China’s despotic government. The participants got into a heated argument as a result.
“Her own daughter was actually using the app for a long time, so you might want to take care your family first,” it was during the third GOP debate of the election cycle in Miami that Ramaswamy revealed this to Haley. The crowd responded by booing.
“Leave my daughter out of your voice. … You’re just scum,” with a seemingly satisfied expression, Haley shot back, rolling her eyes and shaking her head.
Despite Trump’s seemingly insurmountable lead, a number of significant Republican donors, including Interactive Brokers founder Thomas Peterffy, Citadel CEO Ken Griffin, and hedge fund tycoon Paul Singer, have not yet decided who to support.
