The political world is shocked by Senator Tim Scott’s (R-SC) decision to halt his presidential candidacy.
Tim Scott, a Republican from South Carolina, made the disclosure during a Fox News interview with Trey Gowdy. Gowdy is well-known for having served as Scott’s home state’s congressional representative.

” I love America more today than I did on May 22nd, but when I go back to Iowa it will not be as a presidential candidate,” Scott said. “I am suspending my campaign. I think the voters, who are the most remarkable people on the planet, have been really clear that they’re telling me ‘not now, Tim.’ I don’t think they’re saying Trey, no, but I do think they’re saying ‘not now.’”
“And so I’m going to respect the voters and I’m going to hold on and keep working really hard and look forward to and I’m going to hold on and keep working really hard and look forward to another opportunity.”
Even Scott’s own employees were taken aback by his news. Up until the Fox News interview, campaign staff members were totally uninformed of the news.
Scott’s withdrawal from the contest stems from South Carolina’s failure to build momentum outside of his own state in the first primary polls. Scott has been eclipsed by Nikki Haley, the former governor and current UN ambassador, even within South Carolina.

Will Scott’s exit encourage Haley and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, two potential Republican contenders? And yet, according to surveys, former President Donald Trump maintains a sizable advantage.
