The head of the House Progressive Caucus, Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, voiced concerns over President Biden’s and the Democratic Party’s chances in the 2024 election. During an interview with Jen Psaki, Jayapal cited a recent survey conducted by Siena College and the New York Times that revealed former President Donald Trump to be well ahead. Jayapal claims that the circumstances portend “deep trouble” for the party.
A recent survey indicates that the former president is leading in five of the six swing states, with President Biden leading just in Wisconsin. In Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Arizona, Trump gains a four-point lead; in Georgia, he gains an even larger lead of six percentage points.

A recent poll in Nevada, a state where Democrats have long had a majority, shows Trump’s sizable lead.
During her Sunday interview on Jen Psaki’s MSNBC program—a former press secretary for the Biden White House—Rep. Jayapal expressed her thoughts on the survey.
“I will tell you, this is the first time, Jen, that I have felt like the 2024 election is in great trouble for the president and for our democratic control, which is essential to moving forward,” Jayapal said.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), Jayapal’s colleague, has accused the president of assisting in the genocide of the Palestinian people living in Gaza. Psaki challenged Jayapal on her opinion. “In a video message, the “Squad” Democrat declared, “We will remember in 2024.”
“Language also matters, and genocide is defined as the internet intentional destruction of an entire ethnic or religious group and a lot of people do listen to statements made by members of Congress,” Psaki said. “So I just wanna be clear; do you agree with the description of this as genocide and the president’s role in that?”
“I am not willing to say that yet,” the congresswoman answered. “But I will just tell you that Rashida is not the first person to say this. There are credible reports from agencies across the world and, you know, the United Nations has said we are hurtling towards the genocide of Palestinians. That is not an isolated view.”
