“I think it’s intriguing. It’s interesting,” she said. “I haven’t been asked yet, and my focus is now on South Carolina as it always will be and I understand why people might be talking about it. I do a lot for women’s issues and Republicans lost women last year.”

“But my focus today, as it always will be, I love the Lowcountry, where you and I grew up in, and that’s where my focus is. It’s a conversation we need to have because I want my little girl to know that she can be president one day.”

Republicans who wish to remain anonymous said that Mace talked of becoming picked as Trump’s vice president in 2024.

Conservative commentator Laura Loomer wrote on X, previously Twitter, “Hearing that Nancy Mace @NancyMace is in consideration for VP.”

“Nice. @mtgreene [Marjorie Taylor Greene] is probably fuming with jealousy,” Loomer added.

Politico reports that after the violence at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, Trump labeled Mace a “grandstanding loser” and claimed the former president’s “entire legacy was wiped out.”

But in an interview with Politico after Trump’s latest slew of charges, Mace stated, “We can’t afford four more years of Joe Biden.”

According to a June Politico story, Chris LaCivita, who served as a senior advisor to Trump’s 2024 campaign and previously worked as a consultant for Mace, reacted quickly to her disparaging comments about the former president.

“The fact that Nancy has been a constant and consistent presence in defense of President Trump has not gone unnoticed,” LaCivita said.

South Carolina Republicans have been highlighting Mace’s attention-grabbing antics, aggressive social media presence, and appearances on cable news as major reasons why her quest for vice president is gathering traction.

But according to a person close to Trump, he “absolutely hates Nancy Mace,” and one of her former aides expressed this sentiment even more bluntly.

“I would see Trump pick [Mike] Pence before he picks Mace,” that former staffer said.

“She would absolutely dump on Trump,” remarked her former assistant, continuing, “there’s no chance in hell” that she would be picked by Trump.

“She despises him,” the former aide added. “She would call him an idiot and use other sorts of words… She is not a friend of Trump, and Trump is not a friend of hers.”

The concept was rejected by Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung: “None of these so-called sources know what they’re talking about. If they spent half the time spreading untrue stories as they do on their mental health, they’d be much happier people.”

Trump rules out prospective running mates who are already seeking the Republican candidacy in 2024.

The Republican governor of South Dakota, Kristi Noem, is one of the front-runners on his “VP list”.

Regarding Noem, Trump stated in a recent interview: “I think she’s fantastic. She’s been a great governor. She gave me a very full-throated endorsement, a beautiful endorsement. It’s been a very good state for me, and certainly, she would be one of the people I would consider for something else, maybe. We have a lot of great people in the Republican Party.”

Trump hinted that while he was interested in finding “the right person,” he also enjoyed “the concept” of choosing a female to be his running mate.

“You always do a little bit, but I don’t think it’s time,” Trump said. “I want to win, and, you know, it’s very interesting about running mates, when you get down to a vice president, they said, ‘Nobody has ever made that kind of a difference.’ It’s still about the person that’s going to be president.”

Despite being charged four times, Trump’s popularity has skyrocketed, and he currently has a slim lead over Joe Biden in seven crucial swing states that will be crucial in the 2024 election.
