A businessman in Representative Kevin McCarthy’s district, a Republican from California, is challenging McCarthy in the primary election on the grounds that, as a member of the “corrupt uniparty,” he has “failed” his citizens.
David Giglio begins his campaign to replace McCarthy by making a direct plea to the people of the 20th Congressional District in California.
The Second Amendment supporter and self-described “America First” activist charged the former House speaker with being a member of “permanent Washington” in a press release on the campaign.
Defend term limits, border security, and conservatism from government overreach by supporting Giglio’s campaign.
At the outset of his campaign, he publicly chastised McCarthy for his actions while in government.
“Kevin McCarthy has failed the American people,” Giglio stated in the statement that was uploaded to his campaign website and the social networking site X.
Giglio went on:
“I am excited to announce my campaign to defeat Kevin McCarthy in California’s 20th Congressional District.
“After years of being sold out to special interests, the people of the Central Valley deserve an America First Republican fighting for them in Washington and working alongside President Donald Trump to WAGE WAR against the corrupt uniparty!”
Giglio, a Catholic who owns a small business, is a spouse, father, teacher, and advocate for reform in the district that McCarthy represents. He cites McCarthy’s ouster as speaker as proof that a change in course is warranted.
“Kevin McCarthy was removed as Speaker by 8 courageous members of his party for failing to keep to his promises and capitulating to Joe Biden and the radical Democrats,” Giglio stated.

Finally, he said:
“Kevin McCarthy must be defeated. Now more than ever, it is imperative that we replace career politicians and elect America First Republicans who will secure the southern border, stop the weaponization of government, drain the corrupt swamp, and annihilate permanent Washington.
“The American people want and deserve radical change, and I intend to do whatever it takes to fight, win, and deliver!”
McCarthy was removed from his role as Speaker of the House on October 3, leaving the post vacant for three weeks. However, Republican Rep. Mike Johnson assumed leadership as the new speaker on October 25.
McCarthy has not responded publicly to Giglio’s primary candidacy and has stayed mute about it.
Newcomer in 2006, he swiftly claimed a seat in the House.
