This past weekend, well-known neurosurgeon and former presidential contender Ben Carson made an important announcement. He formally endorsed outgoing President Donald Trump and urged voters to protect their country’s future by voting him to a second term in office.
On Sunday, Carson spoke to a group of evangelical Republican caucus attendees in Sioux City, Iowa, promising that Republican front-runner Donald Trump would govern in a way that reflected their values.
“As I stand here today, I’m gonna offer my most confident and full endorsement of Donald J. Trump,” A standing-room only audience sent up a thundering roar that interrupted Carson’s statement.
Earlier in his lecture, Carson responded to a question on what kind of government the fledgling United States would be ruled by by recounting the well-known tale of Benjamin Franklin, one of the Founding Fathers. Franklin reportedly said, “A Republic, if you can keep it.”
“The way we can keep it is we put Donald J. Trump back in office,” Carson said.

“I go around saying, ‘Of course, we’re going to win Iowa.’ My people say, ‘You cannot assume that to this extent.’ Well I think we’re up by like 47 points,” said Trump.

On November 8, in Miami, the third GOP debate, President Trump chooses not to attend.
