Ivanka Trump has been required to give a testimony in a civil fraud action involving the former president Donald Trump and the Trump Organization. Ivanka’s departure from her position at the Trump Organization and her move from New York, according to Judge Arthur Engoron, do not invalidate her possession of crucial information for the continuing litigation.
The former president is accused of inflating his net worth on financial documents in order to receive loans from banks and other organizations, according to a case being led by New York Attorney General Letitia James. The Trump family and the Trump Organization vehemently refute these charges, and the former president calls the trial a “sham” with political overtones.
Ivanka Trump’s involvement in the case is clouded in controversy. Her legal team, along with defense attorneys, strenuously opposed her testifying despite the fact that she was initially eliminated as a defendant owing to legal time restrictions. They argued that it would be unfair to burden her more since she had already been excluded from the case.

“While no longer a Defendant in this action, she indisputably has personal knowledge of facts relevant to the claims against the remaining individual and entity Defendants. But even beyond that, Ms. Trump remains financially and professionally intertwined with the Trump Organization and other Defendants and can be called as a person still under their control,” was the defense put out in a court document by the AG.
Judge Engoron noted crucial records that show Ivanka’s ongoing economic connections in New York, such as her ownership of properties, in her decision to rule in the state’s favor. The office has made it known that they intend to question her about the sale of Trump’s former hotel in Washington, D.C., with a focus on her financial gains from the transaction. He remarked, according to AP News, “Ms. Trump has undeniably taken advantage of the opportunity to conduct business in New York.”
“Ms. Trump remains under the control of the Trump Organization, including through her ongoing and substantial business ties to the organization,” stated the AG. They further pointed out, “She does not seem to be averse to her involvement in the family enterprise when it involves receiving profits from the OPO (hotel) sale, the Trump Organization covering her and her company’s insurance, overseeing her domestic workers and credit card expenses, leasing her apartment, or even footing her legal bills in this case. It’s only when she’s confronted to account for such engagements that she denies any affiliation.”
Her testimony date has been set by the judge for after November 1, providing her legal team enough time to plan any future appeals.
Ivanka will be questioned by the Office of the Attorney General on her participation in a prior hotel project in Washington, D.C. that was thought to have helped her. Ivanka has made attempts to separate herself from certain facets of the Trump Organization, but the AG is adamant that she is still financially connected to the company and is still making money from her numerous business endeavors.
