There will be a candidate who is both unorthodox and realistic in the Democratic Party’s presidential primary, so be prepared for a stunning twist.
Dean Phillips, a Democrat from Minnesota, has declared his intention to run against President Joe Biden for the 2024 nomination.
“I will not sit still,” Phillips said in a brief clip posted to X. “I will not be quiet in the face of numbers that are so clearly saying that we’re going to be facing an emergency next November.”
The representative from Minnesota made no noteworthy criticisms of the president at the time.
“I think President Biden has done a spectacular job for our country,” Phillips made a funny statement.
Here, the idea of deluded realism is introduced. Phillips claims that because of Biden’s outstanding performance, Democrats will be in a precarious position come next November.
Phillips gave CNN an interview while riding in his campaign bus in Concord, New Hampshire. In conclusion, he thinks that Biden would make a great president but that he would ultimately lose.
“It’s time for change. I’m hearing that all around the country,” Phillips said.
“This was not about me. But my inability to attract other candidates, to inspire the president to recognize that it is time, compels me to serve my country because it appears that President Joe Biden is going to lose the next election.”

Other possible Democratic candidates, particularly those who hold governorships within the party, have been actively courted by Phillips.
Phillips made suggestions for possible Biden replacements in an August appearance with NBC’s “Meet the Press,” including Govs. Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania and Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan.
Phillips resigned from a number of leadership positions in Congress after failing to persuade the candidates he wanted to run.
Drivers’ amazement at spotting Phillips’ campaign bus driving along an Ohio highway earlier this week was expected. His announcement on Friday was so anticipated.
Phillips will eventually have to express real criticism of Biden’s policies. In fact, the border situation was the primary concern of the congressman’s campaign at first.
“Chaos at our border and in our cities is growing, while our commitment to countering it is receding,” according to the Minnesota Post, Phillips remarked at a rally in New Hampshire.
It seems that Biden’s performance might not be seen as exceptional.
Maybe at some point Phillips will stop being polite and start harshly criticizing the failed president.
Regardless matter what he thinks of Biden, Phillips’ campaign highlights the difficult situation the Democrats will be in in 2024.
