Remember the historic occasion when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi attacked former President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address? Now that Congressman Mike Johnson is a candidate for Speaker, his followers are happily bringing up the harsh interview he conducted in which he chastised Pelosi for flouting the law.
Representative Johnson calls Pelosi’s behavior a criminal in a Fox News interview with Tucker Carlson.
“It was a shameful display. It was stunning, really, to many members sitting in the House. It was totally unprecedented. It was shameless, and it was also unlawful, Tucker,” Johnson said.
“She actually committed a felony when she tore that paper up. It wasn’t just any copy of the State of the Union address, it was the copy, the original… When the President delivers that copy to the top legal officers… those are the official documents of the House and if you tear those up you violated a specific statute,” he added.

The GOP has united around Rep. Johnson as their candidate for Speaker of the House in an effort to start again. As there are no unresolved issues from his past leadership, Johnson is regarded as a formidable conservative who can successfully set the party’s program apart from the Democrats’. Notably, he now has the backing of Donald Trump’s supporters, the previous president. This endorsement comes after President Trump criticized Rep. Tom Emmer for his recent decision to resign. With Johnson in charge, the GOP is now concentrated on making progress.
The task for the recently named Speaker-Designate Johnson is to bring together MAGA and establishment Republicans and win over 217 members to pass a House vote. Still, both extremes of the Republican Party have praised him for his first 24 hours in office.
“Mike is … a straightforward leader who can unite us as Republicans!” Rep. Carlos Gimenez, one of the few centrists who took a tough stance throughout the search, wrote on X.
The head of the fervently conservative House Freedom Caucus, Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), said CBS Johnson is “the right guy at the right time.”
“He’s got his pulse, I think on where the American people are,” Roy said.

Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO), who oversaw three voting rounds to prevent Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and vote to remove McCarthy, provided CNN with a summary of the drama: “I think he gets it tomorrow.”

She commited a felony and nothing was done. Our DOJ is complicit in this and they all should be replaced immediately and Nancy should be arrested before the statute of limitations runs out. It’s good to be a Demo(nc)rat.
