The third co-defendant in the Georgia election fraud case against former President Donald Trump has agreed to a plea bargain. This person has admitted to lying to Georgia lawmakers about the number of votes cast in the 2020 election.
Former Trump attorney Jenna Ellis and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis have reached a settlement. She will enter a guilty plea to a lower charge than the two that she was initially charged with violating racketeering laws—one count of aiding and abetting false statements. Three other offenders escaped jail time by pleading guilty, though the agreement’s specifics have not been made public.
Ellis admits to helping Rudy Giuliani and Ray Smith put pressure on the Georgia Legislature in December 2020. It was intended to persuade them to name substitute delegates in light of allegedly falsified votes from the previous month.
