On Sunday, Rep. Gary Palmer (R-AL) quickly entered the contest.

Byron Donalds (Florida), Austin Scott (Georgia), Jack Bergman (Michigan), Pete Sessions (Texas), Gary Palmer (Alabama), and Dan Meuser (Pa.) are the other nine GOP representatives running for speaker, along with House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, Republican Conference Vice Chair Mike Johnson, and RSC Chair Kevin Hern (Oklahoma).

By a majority of 112-86, Republicans decided to remove Jim Jordan from office in a secret vote on Friday.
In an unexpected move, former Speaker McCarthy declared his support for Tom Emmer, a native of Minnesota, for the speakership.

According to insider sources, President Trump has decided not to back Tom Emmer for Speaker of the House.
A vote for Emmer would be a vote for Jack Smith and against President Trump.
