The nomination of Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) was quietly withdrawn by the House Republican Conference, and a new candidate for speaker has since surfaced. A representative for the Florida Republican, Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL), has announced that he is running once more for Speaker of the House.
The Hill’s Emily Brooks was the first to report on the news. The Post Millennial and WINK have added to the information’s validation.
After three unsuccessful floor votes, Jordan’s nomination was withdrawn by the GOP conference, which voted against him in a closed session on Friday afternoon by a margin of 112-89. These three unsuccessful votes were criticized as being insufficient compared to the 15 needed to nominate former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
In a letter to X, Congressman Cory Mills (R-FL) stated: “I supported @Jim_Jordan for our next Speaker. Unfortunately my votes for him on the floor and in conference to remain Speaker designate was not enough. I now support @ByronDonalds for the next Speaker of the House.”
Independent journalist Nick Sortor also corroborated the information in his article, which said: “Congressman @ByronDonalds, a man that has frequently been mentioned as a possible Trump VP, has CONFIRMED that he is now running for Speaker of the House Would you get behind Byron?”
Donalds has reportedly been mentioned as a prospective contender after Jordan was disqualified by the conference on Friday, according to a report by Post Millennial. The next candidate forum for the House Republican Conference is slated for Monday night, virtually eliminating the possibility of another floor vote on that day. According to rumors, the following floor vote will happen on Tuesday morning.
According to the source, anyone who wants to be a Speaker must submit their name by Sunday at noon EST.
The Hill reports that Rep. Jodey Arrington (R-TX) and House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) are two prospective contenders for the role. According to The Daily Caller, Wall Street has backed incumbent Speaker Pro Tempore Patrick McHenry because of his high reputation among key people in the financial services sector.
McCarthy won the January 2023 election for Speaker, although Donalds had the public’s attention from the beginning. Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), a colleague, provided Donalds with early support by casting the lone vote in favor of him in the first round. With nominations in the fourth and fifth rounds, Donalds’ popularity grew as the election went on. He became well-known across the country as a result of the enormous support he received, and his political impact is still growing.

As previously reported by USA First Reporting, Donalds’ efforts to expose the corruption within the Biden family—with an emphasis on Hunter Biden, who has drawn considerable controversy—have garnered him even more acclaim. He publicly revealed text messages between Hunter and Jim Biden, the President’s brother, in a significant move.
Donalds read, “In this text message it clearly says, ‘Anyway, we can talk later, but you’ve been drawn into something purely for the purpose of protecting dad.’”
Hunter had made the famed statement in this bombshell testimony: “I hope you all do what I did and pay for everything for this entire family for 30 years. It’s really hard. But don’t worry. Unlike pop, I won’t make you give me half your salary.”

When no one else makes it, we’ll get Jim Jordan back…
