On Sunday, Time Magazine journalist Brian Bennett reported hearing band music coming from the region near the White House’s Rose Garden. When he inquired about the occasion, the White House released a statement claiming that the president and First Lady Jill Biden were busy “hosting a BBQ for White House Executive Residence staff and their families.”
As Florida Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) draws a potent comparison between President Biden’s weekend BBQ and the contentious incident when he checked his wristwatch as American dead were being returned from Afghanistan, the president is subject to unrelenting attack.
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) added to the argument.
Former congressman and Navy SEAL Scott Taylor said that if he had been in Biden’s position, he would have cancelled the BBQ.
The White House is still cheerful after a catastrophic surprise attack by Hamas. Tragically, more than 600 Israeli civilians have died, while more than 100 hostages are still alive. Online recordings show the Israeli military’s ferocious reprisal, obliterating structures thought to house Hamas commanders who were planning the strikes.
Iranian backing for Hamas includes funding and artillery, according to reliable sources. The Defense Department hasn’t yet formally acknowledged this link, though. A recent agreement with Iran that gave them $6 billion in economic help and the release of American hostages has been blamed by some as the reason for the unexpected attack by Hamas.
