Following a tragic incident in Jacksonville that took the lives of four innocent people, David Brooks, a fervent Joe Biden admirer and New York Times writer, made a startling admission.
Did Florida’s Second Amendment protection provisions have a role in this terrible incident? The anchor of PBS NewsHour, John Yang, asked Brooks this query.
“There was also another shooting in Jacksonville over the—over last weekend, where someone who clearly left a lot of writings about his hatred for black Americans, for black people, killed three people. A lot of people in Florida point to the lax gun laws in Florida, especially the concealed carry. You can carry a concealed weapon without a permit. Is that a fair connection, David?” Yang asked.
A proponent of gun control has now admitted that mass shootings are not prevented by such regulations.

“Well, I do think, if you reduced—I mean, we have hundreds of millions of guns in this country. So, I have low hopes that some gun control legislation will reduce people’s ability to get guns. But I do think that was a case where the guy had previous suicidal tendencies, was reading this crap online. And, hopefully—in those cases, hopefully, somebody in the family or a friend, just can say to somebody, red flag here, because that kind of case, he fits every stereotype of somebody who’s going to do this awful thing,” Brooks responded.
Law-abiding persons are harmed by the preferred reactions of gun-grabbers to tragedies, such as the implementation of a national gun registration database and red-flag confiscation legislation.
Criminals have little regard for the law while obtaining weapons, thus they will break it and avoid background checks.
As Brooks said, the objective of gun control is to prohibit and seize the 400 million weapons that American citizens now hold.
