Shokin was making great strides in his inquiry into Burisma’s background. Surprisingly, Joe Biden, a key player in the Obama administration, was the only one who did not back him.
In a 2018 video, he brashly acknowledged using the loan guarantee as pressure to get Shokin fired, all the while his son was collecting $83,333 per month from Burisma for a board post he never showed up for.
“I said, ‘You’re not getting the billion.’ I’m going to be leaving here in, I think it was about six hours. I looked at them and said: ‘I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money,’” Biden said. “Well, son of a b*tch, he got fired.”
