Garcia-Rodriguez, as claimed by the police, has fully confessed to the murder and sexual assault of Maria Gonzalez, according to KTRK-TV in Houston.

He is accused of capital murder, according to the news source KRIV.

Gonzalez’s lifeless body was sadly discovered on August 12 in her family’s apartment in Pasadena, Texas, concealed beneath her own bed.

A former roommate who was questioned by KTRK claimed that Garcia-Rodriguez, who lived in a nearby apartment, left the city just two days after the devastating news of the girl’s death.

The culprit was apprehended in Louisiana’s Shreveport.

Garcia-Rodriguez, a Guatemalan citizen, was captured, according to a NewsNation article, after suspicions were raised that he would have departed the nation across the southern border.

He is presently awaiting extradition to Harris County, Texas, according to the authorities.

Garcia-Rodriguez just recently arrived in the nation in January, said KTRK.

The alien was put with sponsors in Louisiana after turning himself in to immigration authorities in El Paso, Texas.

According to The Hill, President Joe Biden’s administration has seen an unprecedented increase in illegal immigration at the southern border.

Maria’s father, Carmelo Gonzalez, thanks the law enforcement for their quick action after their arrest.

“We want to say thank you to the Pasadena Police Department and to Louisiana police and any officials that participated in bringing this cold-blooded murderer into custody,” the statement said.

“I ask for those who are in charge to give us justice. May he be burdened with the full weight of the law, for what he has done to my daughter.”

To help with funeral expenses, the Gonzalez family has started a GoFundMe page.

The total raised by Sunday morning was $55,125.
