During a news appearance, U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) encounters a medical issue: Video of McConnell, 81, acting confused and frozen is disturbing.
Quickly stepping in to assist the senator and successfully wrapping off the news conference were McConnell’s colleagues. At that time, there was no immediate explanation of McConnell’s illness.
It is unclear how McConnell’s present health will affect his capacity to carry out his Senate responsibilities, and it is also unclear how it will affect the political climate in the United States in the long run. In March, McConnell fell during a private dinner at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Washington, D.C. He was taken to the hospital and then sent to a rehab center.

The 81-year-old Senator has an impressive term that began in 1984, making him the longest-serving party leader in the Senate’s long (234-year) history. However, McConnell’s most recent incident happened soon after a fall in 2019 that resulted in a shattered shoulder. Unfortunately, this recent health setback joins a long list of terrible events impacting U.S. senators, including Senator John Fetterman’s brave choice to seek treatment for serious depression and Senator Diane Feinstein’s struggle with shingles.
