Unthinkable Turn in Hunter Biden Case: Lawyers Face Sanctions!

According to the Daily Mail, Hunter Biden’s lawyers may be punished for allegedly lying to the clerk in his criminal case. Judge Maryellen Noreika of Delaware has given Biden’s attorneys until Tuesday at 9 p.m. to respond with an explanation or risk punishment.

Hunter Biden’s moderate plea deal on misdemeanor tax charges has been rejected by House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith. Smith and other detractors are adamant that the president’s son received preferential treatment.

Sam Grimes, the Delaware clerk, allegedly received a call purporting to be from Chris Clark’s previous legal firm, which represented Biden, professing to be from the office of Theodore Kittila, the lawyer for Smith. The original file and the 448 pages of Congressional testimony supplied by the two IRS investigators engaged in the matter were reportedly asked to be removed by this person.

Kittila wrote a “second outraged letter” after the papers were removed and sealed. “We promptly contacted the clerk’s office, and we were advised that someone contacted the court representing that they worked with my office and that they were asking the court to remove this from the docket,” Kittila sent the judge a letter.

Clark disputed the claims in a “fiery” email reply, stating that, “the clerk took the filing down on their own accord.”

To support his assertions, Kittila did provide a copy of an email from the Delaware clerk. Then he named the person Jessica Bengels and gave her phone number. “She said she worked with Theodore Kittila and it was important the document was removed immediately,” the clerk wrote back.

Judge Noreika gave Hunter’s attorneys until Tuesday afternoon to respond to accusations of shady behavior. “It appears that the caller misrepresented her identity and who she worked for in an attempt to improperly convince the clerk’s office to remove the amicus materials from the docket,” the order said.

“Therefore, it is hereby ordered that, on or before 9pm today on July 25, 2023, counsel for defendant shall show cause as to why sanctions should not be considered for misrepresentations to the court.”
