“When I announced my candidacy in May, I was asked questions about Trump criticizing me. I hit back very directly, but it was on substance. What I’m not gonna do is I’m not gonna attack him personally, I’m not gonna call him names, I’m not gonna do that. That’s just not my style, not my cup of tea, but we’ve been very direct. Where there’s differences on policy, we identify that and we can let the people decide,” DeSantis said.
DeSantis stresses the significance of making this fact clear because his campaign has come under fire for the actions of pro-DeSantis social media influencers who regularly criticize Trump and his followers on online social media sites.
Several well-known conservatives who once supported DeSantis are now condemning his actions.
Trump was extended a brazen invitation to the debate by DeSantis.
“I think he ought to debate. I’m gonna debate, I’m gonna be there, I think it’s a great opportunity for us to have a great discussion about the country’s future,” DeSantis stated.
Despite the fact that Trump is a previous president and now enjoys a sizable lead in the polls, DeSantis highlighted that nominations must be earned and that no one is assured to receive one. Trump, according to DeSantis, should conduct himself as any other candidate would, including introducing himself, making his case, and responding to questions.
