Find Out Now What Each 2024 GOP Contender is Saying About School Safety

A key question was presented to each GOP presidential contender on Friday’s “Fox News Tonight” by Kayleigh McEnany, a Fox News contributor and a former press secretary for the Trump administration. The question was, “How do you plan to protect students in American schools?”

The query was uncomplicated: “What is your plan to protect America’s students? How do you intend to achieve that while keeping gun rights unabridged?”

Vivek Ramaswamy, a businessman, declared he will concentrate on “the mental health epidemic in our country.”

Ramaswamy continued: “Nearly every major mass shooting is committed by someone who grew up in a fatherless household.”

He thinks Americans need to establish “pro-family policies” and restrict the kinds of social media that young children find addictive. Ramaswamy likened the rules to those that were in place “for cigarettes.”

It was also highlighted that every school should have a total of three armed security officers on duty at all times, prepared to handle any emergency.

Nikki Haley, a former governor of South Carolina, said that schools only require “one point of entry.”

“We need to make sure we have a law enforcement officer in every single school,” Haley said.

In every school, Haley argues for the hiring of guidance and mental health counselors.

“A lot of this is mental health-related,” she noted.

Tim Scott, a senator from South Carolina, promotes safety via instruction.

“I mean a good education is the closest thing to match it. I can’t think of anything more disruptive than not feeling safe in your own school,” Scott said.

The press secretary for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis spoke to Fox News on policies already in place in Florida.

“Governor DeSantis takes school safety extremely seriously but rejects the left’s efforts to make this issue a vehicle for curtailing second amendment rights. As president, he will continue championing school safety and support local law enforcement entities to have every resource needed to keep students safe.”

The media site aired a DeSantis audio clip that was mentioned in the statement, in which the governor discussed allocating around $1 billion for school security and said, “Now, some of that is the school resource officers, which is important to have that presence. “

Former President Donald Trump spoke to the NRA in April, and according to his campaign, this speech answers a crucial point.

The former president offered a tax rebate for instructors who own concealed weapons as well as the removal of ineffective regulations.

“For about $12 billion we could fund armed security guards at the entrance to every school in America,” Trump said.

Mike Pence Thinks the Same as the Other Candidates

“I called on leaders in Washington, D.C., to forward and provide full funding to every public and private school in America to hire an armed and trained resource officer, and to do it now,” he said.

“We will protect all the God-given rights in our Constitution and we will provide the resources to hire armed, trained resource officers to protect our kids,” The previous vice president observed.

Ms. McEnany reminded the audience that some candidates chose not to answer and made it plain that they will have to do so in due time.
