KJP Claims The BIGGEST Lie

During a recent news conference, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre made an unexpected claim, blaming “poor weather” among other things for the increase in food costs under the Biden administration.

She claims that Biden’s response to weather-related problems including devastating storms, droughts, and wildfires has led to a decrease in agricultural productivity, which has led to an increase in food prices.

“As you know, grocery prices rose because of the global supply chain bottleneck and unforeseen supply shocks like avian flu and war in Ukraine and also poor weather.”

In 2023, rising grocery costs will cause great concern for many households. The cost of food at home, which accounts for a sizable chunk of American budgets, is rising even while national inflation rates are declining. According to the Labor Department, food costs soared 11.3% higher in January 2023 compared to the previous year, signaling a sharp increase in grocery inflation.

Seniors and those with lesser incomes are particularly hard-hit by rising food prices. The 8.7% cost-of-living adjustment that Social Security beneficiaries received in 2023 was the highest since 1981, but it was insufficient to keep up with the steadily rising prices of food.

Lower-income households are more burdened by the rising cost of food. According to a recent poll, food expenses accounted for 63% of respondents’ fastest-growing spending categories, up from 58% the year prior. This indicates that a growing number of individuals are having trouble paying for the food they require to survive.

Due to their buying patterns, lower-income households face the burden of increased supermarket prices. They spend much more on housing and food, which causes their inflation rates to be higher than normal.

Since December, low-income individuals have been severely hurt by price increases, with inflation rates substantially exceeding those of other income brackets. As food stamp benefits are due to expire, putting around 30 million individuals in 32 states at danger, the situation is expected to become worse.

For supermarket consumers, good news! According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, food costs will increase less in 2023 than they did in 2022. Even while this year’s growth may only be 8%, it’s still a decrease over previous year’s 11.8% increase. Don’t let your guard down just yet, though. The prediction still suggests that food prices might rise by 20% by the end of 2023 in comparison to 2021. Keep an eye on those receipts from the store!
