During a brutal struggle with a teenage illegal immigrant, a Florida law enforcement officer was killed.
Sgt. Michael Kunovich from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, a 25-year law enforcement veteran, met a young guy on the evening of May 19.

The adolescent immediately turned and walked away as Kunovich approached, according to The Florida Times-Union.

Mendez disobeyed the sergeant’s orders and tried to get away from Kunovich by running. But it was in vain since the lawman caught him.
Deputies discovered a fight between two people when they arrived on the scene. The confrontation persisted despite the deployment of a taser by a seasoned law enforcement officer.
The kid made an effort to grab the sergeant’s weapon from him.

“Dad your shift was over way too soon,” At the wake, Michael Kunovich made a statement. “Go rest high on the mountain, be our guardian angel and guide Max and I to serve like you did. I will always love you.”
